Tamara: What inspired you to write the book?
Divine: My son inspired me to write my book. I wanted him to know my story. I wanted him to know that my divorce didn’t happen in vain, and that instead it was done out of Love. Apart from that, I wanted to share with him and the world the gems of wisdom I took away from each and every one of my experiences: finding purpose and truth, knowing that there was something greater than this surface reality and that within ourselves was the power to heal and create.
Tamara: Who is this book for? What do you hope they will “get” from reading it?
Divine: This book is for those looking for healing, for guidance, for clarity, for peace, and for hope while going through the darker moments of life. It’s for the outcasts, the believers, the romantics and the hopeful. It’s for anyone wanting to understand life on a deeper level in order to create a better life for themselves.
Tamara: What’s been your biggest challenge as an author so far?
Divine: Putting myself and my stories out there. It’s a bit scary revealing yourself to the world.
Tamara: What’s the one thing you’ve celebrated or what’s been a high point of writing your book?
Divine: As I was writing my book, I had to revisit each and every one of the experiences I wrote about. By doing so, I felt that I healed, made peace and honored a deeper level of my being.
Tamara: What’s surprised you the most about writing your book?
Divine: How difficult it was sometimes to write about some of those stories. You fail to realize that you could still feel a jolt of emotion from experiences you thought you had gotten over years ago.
Tamara: What’s one piece of advice you would give to aspiring authors?
Divine: Commit to writing, even during the days you don’t feel like writing. Write something anyway and allow the natural flow to take over.
Tamara: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Divine: Write from your heart, not the way you think people would best receive it. Allow yourself to be evident in your writing. The most impactful writing is writing that is raw and authentic.
